On Saturday March 2, come to the castle! Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre is the place to be for high notes, hi- jinx and beautiful bel canto singing from a wonderful cast of Canadian singers in this rarely heard, gender-bending comic opera.
DAM Concert Opera presents Rossini’s Le Comte Ory in a semi-staged version (sung in French) with interactive narration, leading the audience through the story. This zany tale begins with Countess Adèle who is left alone in her castle while the men are away fighting. Add a mysterious hermit, a lovelorn page, a stern tutor, and soldiers disguised as nuns who break into the castle, and you have a great blend of comedy and melody, with some of the most exquisite arias, duets and ensembles in the repertoire.
