The board and staff of Opera Canada are saddened to hear of the passing of Rob Herriot on July 3rd at 60 years old. Rob was well known across North America for his work in both opera and musical theatre. Most recently, he directed Così fan tutte at Vancouver Opera and Nuova Vocal Arts and The Marriage of Figaro at Manitoba Opera – he had longstanding relationships with both Nuova and Manitoba Opera. He also lent his artistic vision to the Little Opera Company, Rainbow Stage, Opera Kelowna, Calgary Opera, Connecticut Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, Opera Hamilton, Utah Opera and Arizona Opera, and frequently worked with students at the University of Manitoba’s Desautels Faculty of Music.

We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to Rob’s husband Lars, their family, friends and our fellow colleagues.
