Chants Libres Names Marine Theunissen as its New Executive Director

Montreal-based vocal creation company Chants Libres has announced Marine Theunissen as the company’s new Executive Director. A trained actor and director, Theunissen embarked on her PhD in Arts Studies and Practices at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) in 2016, and has directed a variety of projects before focusing on technology for the stage. She is also trained in communications, and since 2012 has worked in project management, communications management and coordination for cultural organizations and research networks in Québec.

Motivated by creation and the analysis of modern practices, she plans to combine her strengths to develop work methods that are collaborative, creative, research-driven and innovative. In her new role, Theunissen will support the company’s new artistic director, Marie-Annick Béliveau, promoting the company, its mission, arts and projects across Québec and around the world.

“We were extremely impressed by Marine’s profound thoughtfulness and dynamic intensity,” said Chants Libres Board President Annik Geoffroy in a statement. “We enjoyed hearing her take on the challenges that Chants Libres faces today and will face in the future.
