This new, one-of-a kind program is designed for high-level pianists who specialize in collaborating and working with singers. Under the co-direction of Michael McMahon (Schulich School of Music of McGill University) and Francis Perron (Faculté de musique de l’Université de Montréal), six outstanding pianists will immerse themselves in art song and operatic repertoire, developing their skills as collaborative pianists and vocal coaches. Participants in this residency will work with renowned professors from both institutions but also receive guidance and instruction from prestigious experts and artists currently working on the international vocal arts scene.

Generous financial support. All candidates accepted to the program will receive both a full scholarship and a living allowance. Opportunity to study at exceptional musical institutions. Both are located in the city of Montreal and will soon be connected by a new transit system (Réseau Express Métropolitain). Outstanding residencies with leading international artists and experts.

Professional development. As part of the residency, financial assistance is available for participation at an internationally recognized workshop, academy, or internship. Open to all candidates, both national and international. Any pianist with a minimum of a Bachelor of Music (or equivalent) and significant experience in collaborative piano is eligible. 9-month intensive program. The residency will run from September to May.
