HCA Dance Theatre’s Opera Masterclass Accepting Submissions

Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts (HCA) Dance Theatre is currently accepting submissions for its upcoming Opera Masterclass, featuring renowned guest artists Canadian operatic lyric baritone Russell Braun and collaborative artist, pianist Carolyn Maule. On the afternoon of October 16th, pairs comprised of one singer and one accompanist will train with Braun and Maule.

At the conclusion of the event, one duo will be selected to perform a recital with Braun and Maule on the following Sunday, October 23 at 2pm in the Black Box Theatre at the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts. The pair will be remunerated for their recital performance. David Speers, Conductor and President of Opera Canada’s Board of Directors, is also a Program Consultant for the Masterclass.

Auditions will take place on Sunday, September 11 in the Black Box Theatre at the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts (126 James Street South, Hamilton). In some exceptional circumstances, video auditions may be considered.

To be considered for an audition, artists may submit:

  • Artist Information: Full names, contact information (email and phone), and resumes for both singer and accompanist
  • Repertoire: Three selection options (title and composer)
