In a press release on Sept. 2nd, opera.ca announced the launch of a new Emerging Artist Fellowship, the first initiative of their Leadership, Innovation, Networking, Knowledge (LINK) Emerging Artist Programs.

The initiative by opera.ca, created by emerging artists for emerging artists, is being developed and run by 28-year old Portfolio Artist and soprano Jaclyn Grossman. Grossman recently graduated from McGill University with a Master’s in Opera and Voice and is the Founder of The Phoenix Leadership Project, a charity dedicated to youth leadership training programs. Opera.ca’s fellowship will select fifteen Canadian emerging opera artists aged 18-29 to participate in a year-long development program of consultations, mentorship, and professional workshops. The fellowship was developed to help address the growing loss of work Canadian artists are facing due to COVID-19, with the aim of inspiring artists to pursue multi-faceted careers with alternate paying work opportunities outside their fields.

The application for the fellowship can be found here and is due Sept. 21st, 2020 at 5:00pm EST.
