Pacific Opera Victoria — online programming

Pacific Opera Victoria is joining the ranks of opera companies turning to digital content in lieu of their cancelled productions. It’s not quite as exciting as live opera, but there’s plenty of video and audio content to take in over the next few weeks:

Friday, April 24, 4pm PDT: Listening Party Podcast, with host Rebecca Hass and creators of The Book of My Shames, tenor Isaiah Bell and director Sean Guist. In a bonus segment, singers from the Pacific Opera Victoria Chorus share stories and photos from backstage.

Sunday, April 26, 1pm PDT: Inside Opera with host Robert Holliston, on opera in pop culture (a good choice for opera newbies).

Sunday, April 26, 2:30pm PDT: BONUS Acoustic Afternoon, featuring members of the Pacific Opera Victoria Chorus and an excerpt of Bizet’s Carmen (a nod to their cancelled production, which should be currently onstage).

Monday, April 27, 1pm PDT: Acoustic Afternoon, with bass-baritone Neil Craighead.

Friday, May 1, 4pm PDT: Listening Party Podcast with host Rebecca Hass, and guests Rachel Fenlon, Kinza Tyrrell, and Doug MacNaughton.

Friday, May 8, 1pm PDT: Acoustic Afternoon with tenor Josh Lovell, singing out of Vienna.

Friday, May 15, 1pm PDT: Inside Opera, “So, you wanna try opera?” Robert Holliston gives the ultimate 101 guide in experiencing opera.

Friday, May 22, 1pm PDT: Lunch Box Opera with Rachel Fenlon, a 45-minute concert with the Canadian soprano and pianist out of her home in Berlin.
