Italian-Canadian soprano and Opera Canada contributor Lucia Cesaroni sits down for an exclusive interview with Perryn Leech, the Canadian Opera Company’s new General Director.
In her latest “Voice Leading” column in our Summer 2021 issue, Cesaroni raises questions of guidance in arts organizations, and why there aren’t more artists in leadership roles. Leech, who officially took over for Alexander Neef on March 1, 2021, chats with Cesaroni about the idea of artists in leadership, and what parts of opera’s long history might hinder the art form’s evolution:
