Quarantine Questions: Nathan Keoughan

Zoom trivia & missed culinary experiences: baritone and Prince Edward Island native Nathan Keoughan answers our latest Quarantine Questions.

What is something you’ve lost to the pandemic?

“Besides losing a few debuts in my budding young opera career, what I am most disappointed about is not having the chance to eat my way through Vancouver’s amazing food scene. As much as I was looking forward to singing Pink again [in Another Brick in the Wall], the gourmand inside of me was heartbroken to realize I wouldn’t be able to have all the dumplings and noodles I could handle while working at Vancouver Opera! As a proud east coaster, I’m hoping I get another opportunity to see what all the fuss is about on Canada’s west coast.”

What have you done with your unexpected time, that makes you grateful?

“Something new I’ve been doing with my unexpected time is playing Zoom trivia! My buddies and I used to play music trivia once a week during our undergrad and one of them suggested we organize our own game and play on Zoom. So my girlfriend Andrea and I have been coming up with our own questions, and once a week we crack a few beers and play as if we were all back at the bar in Charlottetown.

Maybe it was the beer, but after our first game we hung up and realized it was the most normal we had felt in weeks. It makes me grateful for my islander friends and community and I look forward to being back home on our little island.”
