A key event in Canada’s summer music scene, the Toronto Summer Music Festival is going into its second virtual line-up. The Festival’s series of concerts runs from July 15 to August 1, and boast a healthy range of concerts, all available for free streaming.
The Festival features some of Canada’s top talent, including performances by the Gryphon Trio, Toronto Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Jonathan Crow, pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin, and the New Orford String Quartet.
For those craving singing, there are two items to bookmark in this year’s virtual TSMF. On July 17, rising Canadian stars Danlie Rae Acebuque, Veronika Anissimova, and Dakota Scott-Digout offer up art song selections; the program also features pianist Dvořák’s Piano Quintet No. 2 in A Major, Op. 81, led by Canadian pianist Jamie Parker.
And on July 20, star soprano Adrianne Pieczonka teams up with Canadian leader in art song, pianist Steven Philcox. Their recital includes music by Clara Schumann, Gabriel Fauré, Samuel Barber, and George Gershwin, and it’s free to stream.
